Call for Papers

Knowledge management (KM) presents organisations with opportunities to be innovative both within their own organisation and in their interactions with other organisations, government bodies, communities, and the corporate world. Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) are an important resource and tool for implementing KM and allow communitiesto act more effectively in their communications and work practices. In the third sector, ICTs are expressed through community informatics techniques. Together KM and ICT platformspresent fresh opportunities for building communities.

This conference will explore the issues emerging from the exploitation of KM and ICTs to empower communities. The conference seeks contributors from a wide range of backgrounds including academics, professional researchers as well as practitioners and community activists who are able to present theoretical positions, practical applications and frameworks for action. It will energise organisational and community managers, policy makers at all levels of government, and researchers.

The Australian Conference on Knowledge Management and Intelligent Decision Support (ACKMIDS) has been organised and hosted by the Knowledge Management Research Program (KMRP) in the Faculty of Information Technology at Monash University. This year the conference is co-hosted by KMRP, the Monash Centre for Community Networking Research (CCNR) and the University of Ballarat. The conference proceedings are published as a monograph by Australian Scholarly Press.
